site owner, firstly many dogs are scared my blaze hides under the beds or behind the sofa ,we can only comfort her as much as possible ,also i actually take her out site and hold onto her very tight let her see whats happening as thats 1 of the reasons they are scared as they dont know whats happening and shutting curtains and windows is just hiding it away from them ,but make sure the fireworks aint right next door make sure they are in the distance as it hurts their ears that works for blaze may not work for max though u can get something from the vets to surdate them a little but nobody knows how long the ppl are going to set the poxy things off for , also the aggression bit is probly to do with these are my girls and your not coming near her some dogs go through that stage until they are reassured not everydog is going to hurt her speak to your local vets or maybe a few training lessons ,does he do it when his out with you on his own? it could be his protecting just you or just roxy or probly both of you ,if its just roxy then it would probly help if you do seperate walks i know its a pain doing that but if thats the only way ,if training dont work it could be the whip off the gonads to get rid of the male aggression BUT THATS THE LAST STRAW ,SPEAK TO YA LOCAL VET OR TRAINING CLUB THEY WILL BE ABLE TO HELP YOU MORE

Hi,
Couple of questions. my babies, Max 2 & Ruby 4 1/2 months are terrified of fireworks, even when I turn my telly up full and close all windows, curtains etc Max is so scared he hides under things and cries for hours. Can you help cos Ruby is now picking up on his fear and getting the same. I feel so sad for them but dont know how to help.
Also Max was great with other dogs until we got Ruby, now any dog who comes near he tries to go for them, he even snarls if they walk past... what can I do to help calm the situation.
Your help will be really appreciated.

couldnt agree more lou ive had the same when ive walked mine i do let them off but im lucky we can see for miles over our fields so when its clear they get let off i walked across the other week and some womans dog came running up to mine they were on a lead and i shouted can you get your dog away please she came and got it and said you shouldnt walk dangerous dogs where others walk ... i said excuse me but mine are on a lead controlled and they are only dangerous to small bloody minded people like yourself

Unfortunately these idiots are owning staffs & other bullies in the vain attempt to look tough, they want a dog to scare off all the other dogs and make our job of people accepting and appreciating the breeds even harder.
I get so angry when people cross the road when they see me & my staffie Max, an old woman even screamed at me in the park to get my dog away(he was on a lead and only looked her way!!) she was convinced he would attack her dog, very ignorant.
Staffies were bred for fighting but they still had to be trained to fight, and lived in tiny homes for the rest of their time so if they are so bad how come the breeds are still about today ? they wouldn't be.
Some dogs are aggressive but bullies are not the worst, in my opinion.
People who love staffs and the other bullies know that they are the BEST, esp my Max !!!
